CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL –
Higher prices and more sales. That sums up the Charlotte County housing market over the first half of 2015. Some say the market will continue to heat up over the summer.
New numbers from the Punta Gorda-Port Charlotte-North Port Realtor Association show that for each month this year, more homes were sold over last year. In fact March had the most amount of home sales of any month in the past 10 years with 650.
In May 2015, 564 homes were sold. In 2014, that number was 492, which is more than 2013 and 2012.
Association president Jim Quinn says prices are also up about 15 percent over last year.
“This year so far was better than the same month last year, which was better than the same month the prior year, and we’re seeing that trend. I think that trend is going to continue this summer,” Quinn said.
Charlotte County remains popular due to good value compared to neighboring Sarasota and Lee counties, especially for waterfront property.
